True Enterprise is the premier hardware store in Le Roy, Kansas, and has been a cornerstone of the community since 1979. Founded by Dale and Teresa True, the business started from humble beginnings in their home, with Dale providing electrical, plumbing, and HVAC contracting services while Teresa managed the business’s bookkeeping.
In 1989, an opportunity arose when the local lumber yard went up for sale. The True family seized the chance to expand, purchasing the yard and adding a full range of supplies for home repairs, from tools to building materials. As the business grew, the need for more space became apparent, and in 2004, they doubled the size of their retail space. They also added more parking and a new drive to accommodate their delivery trucks.
At this time, their daughter, Stacy True, began working full-time alongside her parents in all aspects of the business. Today, Stacy runs the retail store, ensuring customers receive top-notch service. Although Dale retired from contracting in 2020, True Enterprise continues to stock a wide variety of contracting materials for retail customers.
The business is truly a family operation. Teresa retired from day-to-day operations after a stroke in 2023, but customers can still catch Dale offering free advice when he drops by. Stacy’s brother, Brian, also helps out when Dale or Stacy are unavailable.
