  • Include Key Information: Show the menu, staff, environment, and other details to help customers understand what to expect.
  • Easy Navigation: Make it simple for customers to find what they need, like the menu or reviews.

I love Chinese food, but I don’t love this Chinese restaurant’s website. Let me show you why. If you think customers aren’t looking at your website’s design and the elements it has before deciding whether to visit your restaurant, you are dead wrong. Check out this website.

They did a couple of nice things, like having some reviews, but it’s unclear if these are Google reviews, Facebook reviews, or just something they made up. They also have some links and information, which I like, and they embedded their map. But other than that, that’s the whole website. I would want to see what the restaurant looks like inside. I’d want to see if the reviews are credible. I’d like to see staff photos, a page about the environment, and more details on what they offer. Don’t just tell me—show me with pictures and videos.

Here’s the other problem. The design is confusing. There’s just a logo, a background, and an image. There’s no menu, and all it gives me is an option to order online. But what if I don’t want to use this tool? I could use Uber Eats or other services, but when people go to a restaurant’s website, they want to see the menu. That’s one of the main things. The environment, reviews, staff, cleanliness, and the menu should all be easy to find. But when I click on the menu, I’m just asked if I want to place an order. I can’t see what’s actually in the dishes, like vegetables or ingredients.

While this might have been easy for the restaurant to set up, the user experience isn’t great. I go back to the website, trying to find the menu, but I have to click multiple times to get to it. It’s frustrating. As a customer, I want details about the restaurant and its offerings, such as delivery options and speed. The website should showcase these things clearly.
