The business is the result of the vision and hard work of Daryl Dennis Samples and Linda Jean Samples, affectionately known as “Pop and Nana Samples.” Initially, the couple saw an opportunity in the booming sock mill market in their area and started Samples’ Hosiery Mill right in their front yard. However, when the hosiery industry moved overseas, Pop and Nana shifted gears and ventured into a plant nursery, leveraging Linda’s green thumb to run the operation from their backyard.
As the years passed, Pop and Nana noticed a growing need for a plumbing and electrical supply store in their town. They saw an opportunity, saved up, and transitioned their nursery into their new venture, aiming to create a “little Lowes” for their community. This vision blossomed into S&S Wholesale Supply, a business that has seen four expansions and is continually evolving.
